Welcome to the New Home of SoupAddict.com … and a Giveaway

2011 September 6

SoupAddict has a new home! After much hand-wringing and sleepless nights, SoupAddict, like a nervous kid leaving home for college for the first time, has left the WordPress.com nest and settled into her own digs.

To celebrate, she’s doing something that’s never, ever been done on the interwebs before: she’s holding a giveaway  [gasps from the crowd!]. But, you should’ve come to expect such stunning innovation from SoupAddict. She’s nothing if not cutting edge and totally hip to the groove of the moment.

As you might have gathered from the opening photo, the prize is one brand new, unused, hardback copy of the utterly splendid, “Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams at Home” (retailing online anywhere from $14.54 to $23.95, depending on the mysterious whims of the Amazon price-maker-uppers).

Never had Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream? Mark my words: she’s the next Ben & Jerry’s. (Locate Jeni’s at a retailer near you.) Innovative, daring (Gorgonzola in ice cream? Oh, yes), and a true scientist at heart when it comes to the interaction of cream and milk, Jeni has taken ice cream to new levels and made it really, really good in the process — possibly the creamiest, smoothest ice cream I’ve ever had in my life.

If the Gorgonzola flavor didn’t tempt you, how about Salty Caramel? Or Gooey Butter Cake? Personally, Jeni had me at Toasted Brioche Ice Cream with Honey and Jam. Or maybe it was Orange Blossom Ice Cream with Dark Chocolate Freckles.

And yes, they’re all in the book, yours for the making — at home, no super-fancy equipment.

The Nitty Gritty:

The Prize: One brand new hardback copy of “Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams at Home”
How to Enter: Simply leave a comment below (one comment per person, please, and use an email address you check often).
Deadline: Giveaway entry closes on Thursday, September 8th at 5:00PM Eastern.
Winner: One winner will be chosen at random from the posted comments and announced here Thursday evening before Midnight.
Sponsor: SoupAddict!

Entry has closed — stay tuned for the announcement of the winner this evening!

And now, without further ado or random babbling, the winner is …

[dah dah-dah daaaaah ...]

Karen, congrats on the new digs!

After 20 years the old Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Recipe has seen better days. A new ice cream book would be awesome. Please let me know where to send my mailing address. ;-)

I love your blog. Thank you!

You are a brave chicky. I am terrified of switching blog platforms. T-e-r-r-i-f-i-e-d.
Of course, I am also scared of flaked coconut. So I am probably not the best measure of scary.
Hope the new digs are all that you wanted :-)

I’m so glad you’re not going far! Mint chocolate chip (complete with green food coloring) is my all-time fave, but the blueberry pie ice cream at Graeter’s is trying very hard to take its place.

Glad you’re only moving at not going away for good!

My favorite ice cream would have to be butter pecan for completely sentimental reasons, because otherwise, I would never discriminate against an ice cream flavor :)

    Caramel Pecan Swirl!

Will the ice cream attachment for my KitchenAid stand mixer work for these recipes?

    Congrats on your new site!

I’m lactose intolerant so try to avoid ice cream; however, I will endure the pain for a really good chocolate chip mint. And now, your mentioning of salted caramel has my ice cream sensors firing…what’s a little stomachache, if it comes at the cost of so heavenly a flavor?

wow, you moved house! so it’s time for the housewarming party! I’ll bring some cake, ok?
    :)

(I used to love ice cream, you know, that Italian gelato which I am so lucky to find just about anywhere. Now it’s like I’ve grown… cold about it O_o The only ice cream I always, always crave is the one that comes from my own ice cream machine. I did not know this book, will have to look it up – that is, if I don’t win it ^^ )

Cingrats in the new site! I am email subscribed again!

My favorite icecream is Blue Bell. Grew up on it in Texas and miss it so much now that I’m in new york. Their icecream is simply divine.

Jeni’s Ice Cream is very … interesting. I am afraid to try some of the flavors! But the Salted Caramel is very good.

Your new home looks great too!

LOVE Jeni’s! It’s local to us and such a tasty treat!

I think my favorite is either a good quality Butter Pecan or Espresso Chip. Depends on what kind of mood I’m in!

Thanks for the chance to win the book. I’ve been eyeing it for a while!

Congratulations on your “new home” I hope everything runs super smoothly.

We just got an ice cream maker and we LOVE our homemade vanilla made with Mexican vanilla. (My beau didn’t know a little went a LOOOOOOONG way, so he bought more vanilla than we will use in a lifetime, so we have been sticking to plain’ol vanilla to make a dent in our lifetime supply.)

  19. September 7, 2011

So, I just bought a brand new ice cream maker, just in time for winter!

    sigh…I’m always a little behind..

congrats on having your very own url!!!

  20. September 7, 2011

Yay! Congratulations on your new internet home! The ice cream looks amazing, and you had me at ‘gorgonzola.’ Plus, if I win this cookbook then that totally justifies the purchase of an ice cream maker . . . right?

  21. September 7, 2011

Congrats on the new site! The ice cream sounds lovely, the perfect treat for these warm, end-of-summer days. Seems like a great book!
