Since tomatoes are the star here, choose a super flavorful variety, like Cherokee Purple, Black Krim, Beefsteak, Brandywine, Sun Gold, Black Cherry, Sweet Millions (or better yet, a mixture of several). If you don't mind the color of your drink, use the maximum greens called for (you won't taste it - it will simply color the juice brown instead of deep red). If you're preparing this in the off-season, use grape tomatoes, which are the most reliably tomato-y tomatoes in the winter.
4 to 6large kale leavesor sub a handful/heaping handful of spinach or romaine leaves
2medium tomatoes or 36 cherry tomatoes
1small cucumber
1medium carrot
1small red bell pepper
1stalk celery
1/2large lemon
1" knob of gingeroptional, but delicious
Instructions
Thoroughly clean and prepare all of the ingredients according to the instructions of your juicer (you might, for example, have to chop the veggies into smaller pieces, or remove the lemon peel). Process all ingredients through the juicer. Skim off any foam that might collect on top and give a good stir. If you're a fan of cold juice, as I am, refrigerate for an hour before consuming, or serve over ice.
