1tablespoonloose leaf greensencha and gunpowder green are my faves
1bag turmeric tea or 1 teaspoon powdered turmericNumi makes a nice turmeric tea blend
fresh herb sprigssuch as mint, thyme, lemon thyme (optional), washed
1quartgreat tasting waterI filter tap water through a Brita pitcher
Equipment: a container with a lid to hold at least a quart of watera mason jar works great.
Instructions
Bring 1/2 cup of the water to just short of boiling (bubbles on the bottom of the pan) and remove from heat. Add the teas, turmeric, and herbs and swirl for 15 seconds. Pour into the container and immediately add the remaining water to cool the tea solution. Do this part quickly so the tea doesn't begin to "cook." Give everything a nice stir and ensure that the teas and herbs are submerged in the water. Close the lid and refrigerate for 8 to 12 hours. Overnight is fine - it will just produce a stronger infusion.
Strain the tea through a sieve into a pitcher or a large bowl (if you want to return the tea to the steeping container). The tea leaves can be used once or twice more, if desired (store in a jar in the fridge).
